Rise up, rise up for William Riley

And go along with me 

I mean to go with you in some far distent land

Her father follerd after her with forty bright armed men

This lady she was taking back in her chambor bound

Poor Riley he was taking back and chaned down to the ground.



His feet was in cold oirn bands

His hands in stalketh bound

Your ladys oth will hang you or ronder sit you clear.

In pleasure I do stand

I hope I will be cleard

By my own dear Polly Ann.



Its Riley rose put on his cloths

His coat of the Irish green

His best coat and his breeches

Were handsom to be seen.



His hair hung around his shoulders

Like glittering gold did shine

And he was worthey some Lord fellows daughter

His own dear Polly Ann.



Its up then spake the lady

With tears all in her eyes

Don't lay the blame on Riley

The blam lays all on me.



I forsed him from his firends

For to go along with me

I loved him out of masure

I drew my disting land.



Its up then spake her father

Some pity now take on me

He's took from me gold rings and watches

Cost me five thousand pounds

I'll have the life of Riley or spend ten thousand more.
