FLAT BILL BEAVER CAP
(Obtained from Mrs. Rachell Brackett, Varnell, Georgia)
-1-
I went to the town the other day
Intending to buy me a hat, sir,
And the very first thing that they threw down
Was an old flat Bill Beaver cap, sir.
-2-
I took it home that very night
And hung it on my bed, sir,
Every time that I woke up
I tried it on my head, sir.
-3-
I went to the field the next day
And left my Beaver cap, sir.
When I came back granny had set an old hen and five eggs
In my flat Bill Beaver cap, sir.
-4-
I took them out one by one
And tossed them at granny’s head, sir,
I took my cap back in the house
And hung it on my bed, sir.
