The Jealous Lover
Away down in the lone lone valley
Where the violets early bloom
There sleeps a gentle Anna
In a cold and silent tomb
She died not broken hearted
Nor in sickness did she fail,
But in one moment parted
From the one’s she loved so well.
Come love and let us wonder
Over hill’s and valey’s gay,
Come love and let us ponder
On our happy weding day.
Oh! Edward I’m so tired,
And I do not care to roam,
The road is dark and Dreary
Please Edward take me home.
The moon was brightly shining
The stars were shining too
Away down in the lone lone valley
Her jealous lover grew.
Down on her knees she bended
She begged him for her life
But in her snow white bosom
He plunged a fatel knife.
Oh! Edward I’ll forgive you
Though it be my very last breath
I’ve never loved no other
Then she closed her eyes in Death.
