This image shows a student walking along a sidewalk on the south side of Rivers Street at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in April 1980. An AppalCART bus can be seen turning onto Stadium Drive. The AppalCART served as a shuttle bus service for the Appalachian State campus starting in 1980. It expanded to the town of Boone in September 1981, after the Appalachian shuttle service joined with the Watauga County Transportation Authority to create a bus service for students and citizens of Boone, NC.
