This image shows James Roy Prince, chairman of the Department of Foreign Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1960s. Prince taught at Appalachian State from 1960 until 1975. He can be seen sitting at a desk. Programs in the Department of Foreign Languages focus on teaching students both the language and culture of a region, and includes courses in French, Spanish, Chinese, German, Arabic, Japanese, Latin, and Russian, as well as offering classes for international business and economics majors in the College of Business.
