"Straws in the Wind"
Given at the state School Board Association Annual Convention in Charlotte, NC on November 14, 1970, Dr. Abrams presents his speech "Straws in the Wind."
Dr. Abrams recalls his earlier appearances at School Board Association conventions.
Dr. Abrams remarks with a few stories on how the community touches the school and the school touches the community.
“Putting it to them straight,” Dr. Abrams asks the conventioneers to identify the straws in the wind and become, if they are not already, “the staunch defenders of the public schools.”
- Why is it fashionable to be negative?
- The great need for sweetness and light, rather than controversy and confrontation, in our schools.
- Demanding the best for the public school system and telling its story.
