Administration/Faculty/Staff: 1899
1899: Watauga Academy founded by B. B. Dougherty and D. D. Dougherty. Brothers served as co-founders, co-principals, and teachers of students at Academy. Both were paid a combined fee of $25 a month. Lillie Shull Dougherty taught music during fall semester.
